My Story
"I feel like food should never be an afterthought'.
For as long as I can remember cooking has been my passion, I grew up in a Caribbean household where you had no choice but to hear reggae music blazing early hours of the morning, all windows open and the smells of cooking and household cleaners in the air, if you know you know lol.

For me cooking comes second nature, Im inspired by art, history, my heritage, trends and even street food. One thing
I always aim to do is always put my own flair on everything, trust me it can be some bog standard chips best believe I'm tossing them in spices if needs be.

From Guyanese pepper pot to Trini buss up shut, I learnt everything I know from my grandma and aunts. I grew up with a big family sitting around the table from callalloo to coucou. roti to stewed lamb neck even curry chicken/chicken curry for alyuh in the back deh... so many dishes you don't know where to start, but its the sights and smells that get you excited, when the food Is so good everyone is silent.

Hosting is a big passion of mine, very often I will invite friends and family round to try new recipes and get their feedback. I can't explain it but there's a sense of fulfilment that comes with this job, seeing smiles on clients faces and witnessing them enjoy their event and moment is what brings me joy.

What is your favourite dish?
"Definitely stew lamb neck and roti, the flavours from stewing down the meat for hours and that deep rich gravy, then you soak it up with roti can't beat it".
Is there anything you would change about R.O.C.
Absolutely not, are we perfect no but I would put it in the sense of I'm open to change for learning, but turning back the clock and wishing I did something different, never!
Why the name soul and spoon?
I wanted to create something that as soon as you hear it, you think home cooked food and great vibes. Great food has soul in it, you can't fake that. I wanted to create a place where soulful dishes meets nostalgia, hence the name soul and spoon.
